Mint + Quirkyness
We're back! Apologies again for leaving for so long but sometimes life...gets really good at being life. Let me explain.
In my last post we had just finished up our last class for The Up Center, things were looking good and I had started to nest*.
*To prepare your home for the arrival of a child. Manifests itself in obsessive cleaning, organizing and warm fuzzy feeling you can't control. No spit, feathers or sticks involved... usually.
I wanted a gender neutral decor scheme for our future foster child's room and came across this glorious presentation:
All the design elements I love in one room: mint, black, white, gold, geometric shapes, quirkyness, modern. So naturally I became obsessed and started plotting my next moves. Hobby Lobby, the craft store I adore no matter their stance on family planning, was having a sale on fabrics and home decor items (mega win. it's like they're in my braaaiinnn.)
I picked up a few yards of this and that, found some artwork with encouraging words that pertain to foster/adoption life and decided I wanted animals to live in this kids' room. OH! Annndd I picked up some spray paint so I could start refurbing some furniture pieces. I couldn't help it. I couldn't stop. It was like my brain wanted needed all things mint, black, white and gold with geometrics and quirkyness out of Hobby Lobby! I called Zach to talk me off a ledge because realistically, our wallet couldn't handle the purchase of an entire section of Hobby Lobby goodies. This... I probably said out loud but thought I said to myself... is freaking N U T S and I LOVE it.
Behold a sample of my bounty:

(This shelf used to be 1995 brown btw)
Edit: Shout out to Tiffany for the books and stuffies you see <3

But alas, as the room was coming together our plans to foster/adopt were falling apart... I can't divulge the details right now but soon enough I'll share the details of what has transpired.
Everything happens for a reason so I have to believe that fostering a child just wasn't mean to be right now. While our foster/adoption certification went on hold there were a few more doctors appointments and discoveries made in our adventure to have our own biological children...
More on the next! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
xoxo,
Kearsten.
